PIChE-NCR held the first-ever leadership and team building last November 30, 2024 at NCTS building, UP Diliman, Quezon City. Nine out of eleven PIChE-NCR chapters were represented. The chapters were BOYSEN, CAMANAVA, DENR, FLUOR, MMAC, MME, MMS, MMW, and PNPFG. PIChE CAMANAVA had the most number of participants as listed.
The program started with the welcome remarks from the PIChE Area Vice-President for NCR and International Chapters Engr. Elen T. Perlado, who spearheaded the event. She mentioned that training will help PIChE attain its goals and stressed that “NO CHAPTERS WILL BE LEFT BEHIND” Likewise, our PIChE National President, Engr. Nathaniel P. Dugos gave his opening remarks, thrilled with the outcome of the proceedings
Everyone was enthusiastic about the activities that were in store for the day. All chapters were given the time to discuss what kept them together, what kept them from success and what kept them going. Sharing their discussed insights was presented in front and each chapter was allowed to express its thoughts.
The issued identification cards were used in the activity. The first letter of the name or the last letter of the surname was affixed to the first letter of the name or the last letter of the surname of the next person until all of the participant’s names were verbally attached. A couple of participants could not find a person to affix their names. The game’s rule was adjusted to help them cope with the challenge. Engineers can always modify in any situation, as shown by their flexibility during the game.
The most awaited lunch was served. Each participant was pre-seated to interact with other attendees from other chapters. A deck of picture cards was given at every table, and each one was directed before seating to get a card on top and relate himself to the figure he had picked. All the participants expounded on the cards he had lifted, and getting to know each other in the circle of the table kicked off instantly.
The next activity was creating a story. Specific pictures were distributed to all of the participants. An analysis of the photograph was needed to figure out the next phase behind that particular picture. At first, it was very challenging to see how the image would create a succeeding story, but engineers have their way of finding what they were looking at. They quickly mastered the continuous flow of the story. What else can you expect? The whole story was unveiled and finished. It was depicted with the beautiful smiles on the participant’s faces. Hooray to all of the engineers who actively engaged in this undertaking.
The last activity was collaboration with other chapters. It was a captivating moment for them in capturing a significant success. They have consulted and communicated with the chapter/s they have partnered with and arranged projects where they can complement each other. The goals were achieved in the various proposals conceptualized with this activity as presented. A positive outcome was once again opened and realized. This will surely be a great start to all the chapters in fulfilling their goals.
The program ended with the closing remarks of PIChE National Executive Vice-President Engr. Dennis T. Pagud. He was delighted with the attendees’ active participation and expected more training like this in the future.
